Description
The facilitatorrhythmically beats a tambourine and instructs participants to freely walk around the round as long as the tambourine beats. As soon as the tambourine stops beating, each child introduces himself/herself to the one he/she happens to meet in front of him/her saying something positive about each other. The process is repeated until almost everyone speaks with each other. Following participants return to the circle. Each one expresses how he or she felt with a short phrase or a sketch and writes it down on a card. All cards are placed in the middle of the circle. A discussion based on the following questions can follow:
How important positive feelings are for us?
How can positive feelings be activated in a group?
What other positive feelings have not been mentioned during this activity?
What conditions / circumstances can generate those positive feelings for you?
Do relations in our class / school are such that they can generate positive feelings for all its members?
What changes could be made in order to create an environment of positive feelings in our class / school?
This activity can be used as an introduction to further activities on the indication, the expression / communication, and the management of feelings within the group.
